House Manager (HM) Job Description

Overview

A House Manager is responsible for all activities aimed at providing home and community- based services to individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism. The House Manager is preferably selected among highly performing DSP/CRMA workers noted with consistent management and leadership skills. In addition to the house management associated responsibilities, s/he performs DSP/CRMA-related tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum level of education high school.
  • Strong management and leadership skills
  • Compliance with specific protocols and rules
  • Careful listening to instructions about residents’ needs.
  • Integrity to ensure residents are safe and comfortable to cooperate with DSP in the provision of personal care such as bath, dressing, etc.
  • Trustworthiness and dependability to ensure residents, families and other partners rely on their care and services.
  • Interpersonal skills susceptible to facilitate the communication and residents’ disclosure of emotional needs, distress, or discomfort.
  • Staff management and development
  • Financial management skills
  • Physical strength as enabler to perform tasks such as lifting, positioning, or moving residents.
  • Flexible to work various shifts and different days of the week
  • Professionalism to adhere to HIPAA privacy rules.
  • Commitment to performance improvement to keep up with required and necessary trainings.
  • Completion of DSP basic training

  • Completion of CRMA training
  • Receptive to positive criticism and remarks
  • Mastery of medication administration rules, the five rights pertaining to adequate medication administration: right medication, right dose, right time, right person, and right route

Responsibilities

  • Supervising DSP/CRMA
  • Weekly distributing and collecting time sheets
  • Enforcing writing of progress notes policy
  • Reviewing progress notes
  • Ensuring progress notes are timely written and Identifying staff who missed to write progress notes and encouraging the staff to complete the missed notes.
  • Assessing staff’s performance needs
  • Determine strategies to improve staff performance.
  • Daily schedule review and weekly DSP/CRMA scheduling
  • Weekly supplying necessities to assigned residential home.
  • Making the list of needed residential home materials & equipment.
  • Keeping the inventory of material and equipment
  • Managing finances allocated to residential homes necessities.
  • Monthly activities reporting
  • Annually activities reporting.
  • Attending monthly leadership meetings
  • Performing all activities assigned to DSP/CRMA as needed.

Reporting, supervision & collaboration

  • House Manager teams up with DSP/CRMA for the well-being of residents
  • House Manager collaborates with his/her colleague in various residential homes to share staff as needed.
  • House Manager collaborates with Human Resources Manager

Working Schedule

  • Monday – Friday 8am-12am
  • Be available at least one day on weekend.
